Networking Group of Ocean County (NGOC)
Membership Rules
The Networking Group of Ocean County is a business networking
group devoted to helping its members promote and improve their
businesses. Our group is professional, but fun, and welcomes new
members.
Our mission is straightforward -- to assist each other in growing
our businesses, and to provide area consumers with the best products
and services available.
We are an exclusive group, meaning only 1 company per type of
business. If business functions overlap, the members who have
the conflict will discuss the overlap and come to a working agreement
(ex: the 2nd member whose function overlaps with the 1st members,
can not talk or promote that particular function in the meetings
or to the group).
Your attendance and participation is important.
We have No monthly dues, No referral or guest quotas.
Meetings
We meet twice a month (the 1st and 3rd Thursday of every month)….
The 1st Thursday = morning/breakfast meeting
Location: Check Home page of organization site.
Meeting begins at 8:30 am, get there earlier to network (network
before & after meeting)
Members contribute to pay for room (exact cost depends on number
of members present that day).
NOTE = no additional cost except for what you order to eat or
drink
The 3rd Thursday = afternoon/lunch meeting
Location: Check Home page of organization site.
Meeting begins at 1:00 pm, get there earlier to network (network
before & after meeting)
NOTE = no cost except for what you order to eat or drink
All meetings last about 1 hour (not including personal networking
before and after)
All meeting notifications and reminders are done via email
Attendance
1. One meeting per month is required by members in order to stay
active.
2. Four (4) consecutive missed meetings (2 months) require membership
review. We want active members, not names on a list. If meetings
are going to be missed, please email Linda Andrews so that communication
can be documented. Once a member has missed 4 consecutive meetings
(2 months), the Steering Committee will review their membership
and decide on a course of action.
After 4 consecutive missed meetings (2 months AND without previous
communication), a Steering Committee member will attempt to contact
that person to determine why the meetings were missed. If no response,
that membership is revoked and that business category is available
for another business to take.
Guests and prospective members
1. Guests are welcome at all meetings. Please check the website
before a guest attends to make sure that business category is
available (so there are no direct conflicts).
2. Person inviting guest is responsible for informing guest of
meeting information, following up with them, inviting them to
the next meeting, and then informing them of their membership
status after a vote is taken.
3. Guests must attend 2 meetings before membership is granted.
Voting on their membership occurs at the end of the guests’
2nd meeting (guest will be asked to leave meeting early, so vote
can be taken). The member who invited the guest will be responsible
for informing them of their membership (if no one invited them,
and they just walked in off the street, Linda Andrews will be
responsible for that guest).
Guests are responsible for paying for whatever food or drink
they purchase at the meetings.
